Korea Day 4: Markets, Village and a Tower

Day 4: Our hotel is located in the Namdaemun vicinity so for Day 4, we headed to the famous Namdaemun Market. It was about 5-10 mins walk from Suitcasers.

The market sells all kinds of stuff from kitchen ware to clothes and also food! Seaweeds! Lots and lots of seaweeds! Sadly, no more budget to buy seaweeds. Well anyway, clothes and other bags are not cheap. :( So, do check out the stuff first before you buy. Chances are the quality is good just like my pouch bag. :)

8:30 AMBreakfast @ Suitcasers
9-9:15 AMLeave for Namdaemun

Explore Namdaemun

If you're not into shopping, you can check out the famous Sungnyemun Gate (Namdaemun Gate).

From Wikipedia: Namdaemun, officially known as the Sungnyemun, is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon Dynasty.

Le Parents Posing
After walking around Namdaemun, after buying a hat from this Korean Guy who knows the phrases "mura yan" and "mahal kita", we then walked to Myeongdong!!! I was just too excited to go to Myeongdong even though we already went shopping last night. :)

12:00 PMETA Myeongdong

Also, we were already hungry so we ate lunch at Myeongdong Kyoja. It's part of my list of must eat restaurants.

Top: Mandu, Left: our food, Right: Kalguksu
Their Mandus are the best!!! Oh so yummy!!! The Kalguksu was also delicious and the servings were big! Couldn't finish it all by myself. :) What I like about Myeongdong Kyoja is the fast and efficient service. You order for your food then pay for it. Food arrives in about 15-20min or so then you eat, then you leave. There are other hungry customers waiting so yeah, after you eat, just leave and your table will be given to the next batch. Easy, efficient, fast. :) No need to wait for your bill as you pay right away. The utensils are in the drawers, which is under your table. FYI, there are two branches of Myeondong Kyoja.

Myeongdong is just full of make-up stores. Like, why??? Anyway, make-up stores, some clothing shops like H&M (H&M wasn't open yet in the Philippines), Forever 21 and just more girly shops just make up Myeongdong. Yeah, if you're into shopping go to Myeongdong.

Myeongdong at night
We went to Namsangol Hanok Village in the afternoon. It's a cute Korean Village where you can see traditional houses, kimchi making sessions, photo-ops of traditional costumes and what life was back then.

2:15 PMETA Namsangol Hanok Village

Explore Namsangol Hanok Village

The village itself is huge! There are lots of houses and way back there is a garden where you can relax. Somewhat an uphill climb from the entrance of the village.
L-R clockwise: Plaza, le parents, pond, me :)

I guess people were short like me back in the days.
You can just look around inside the rooms. I don't remember if there was a sign saying that you can't actually go inside the rooms. Bored looking around? You can play some games! Like try to throw the sticks inside this brass jar. After n times, I just gave up...

Or learn some Taekwondo...You only just chop plastic bricks in half and then put it back together...at least you can say you chopped "bricks" using your bare hands...

3:30 PMETD Suitcasers

Rest...

Walking around all day was just too much, it's already day 4 so le parents needed to rest...
Few hours of rest then it was time for dinner :)

6:30 PMDinner at Yoogane Dak Galbi

Spicy Chicken with Rice
The whole meal itself was just spicy but it was so good...but too spicy for me. :( They grill the chicken and rice on your table and they have this salad bar but only with side dishes like more kimchi, salad, and more spicy dishes. :( If you're looking for Yoogane it's just near the Myeongdong Kyoja (Main Branch) we ate earlier. (M Plaza Building, closest Station: Myeongdong Station Exit 6). Read more reviews here from Tripadvisor. Worth a try. :)

After dinner, we then went off to go to N Seoul Tower (Last stop for the day).

7:30 PMETD N Seoul Tower

Go to Exit 3 of Myeongdong Station, wait at the bus stop near McDonald's

Take Namsan Sunhwan Shuttle Bus No. 5 (or bus that says namsan)

It was a long bus ride (using T-Money) to N Seoul Tower. I think it was about 30-45 mins as it had to make lots of stops. By the way, it's a circular bus.

Buses cannot go up the tower so we had to walk from the parking lot, uphill walk to reach N Seoul Tower. It was a good thing we got some rest that day. Uphill walk/climb...

Anyway, here are some of the pictures I took:

We took turns to have our pictures taken with the tower

I used my suitcase padlock.
..oohhh the city's so pretty at night..

Base of N Seoul Tower

There's this pagoda in the park..

One of the many colors of N Seoul Tower

Time to go home and rest up for the last few days in Seoul :(
We took the same bus going back to Suitcasers. From N Seoul to Namdaemun (near Sungnyemun Gate) it was about 10-15 mins.

8:30 PMETD N Seoul Tower to Namdaemun
9:00 PM ETA Suitcasers

Yep so we visited Markets, a Village and a Tower :)
