(2014) My Mindanao Birthday Week Adventure! Day 2

First day was an adventure. Tired from first day's activities and second day was another fun-filled adventure. More swimming and frolicking under the sun. It was a good day, blessed with good weather.

Our itinerary looks hectic because it is for adventure-loving people like us. :) More to see. Relax pacing kind of vacation may seem nice but time is of the essence here so we just take everything all in. Enjoy the sights and take lots of pictures and create happy memories. After all it is my birthday week so make the most out of the vacay/adventure. :)

From my first day post, I already included the expenses for the van. We rented the van for 2 whole days. At the end of this post I'll put the expenses and the contacts as well.


Day 2 is simple actually. Morning we explored Tinuy-An Falls and the afternoon was spent at Enchanted River. For lunch we just ate nearby Enchanted River. If you want yummy fresh seafood I suggest you try the stalls before the Enchanted River entrance. It's not that far and the food was cheap but delicious. :)

Here is the second waterfalls. A good hike to reach this place.

The view of the whole place from here is well worth the hike!

Enchanted River:

Ok so the water isn't that blue but people say that the crystal clear blue color appears during summer.

From Enchanted River, we headed straight to our next hostel in Butuan. We arrived around 7PM...whew! 4 hours of travel but most of the time we were asleep, exhausted from the swimming and hiking. We had dinner at Weegools which is a famous restaurant known for their grilled chicken.

(2014) My Mindanao Birthday Week Adventure! Day 1

As the title implies, yes, it was my birthday week. To celebrate it, I took on an adventure vacation with friends! Yes! It was an adventure, backpacking vacation. Not a relaxing one but a tiring one but it was really fun! Promise, no lying. :) First Day was spent in Butuan, particularly in Britania Group of Islands.

Britania Group of Islands is not that well known for now, but hopefully it will be in the future. The islands are a mix of white sand beaches or beaches made up of broken down corals. From Butuan Airport, we hired a van to take us to the town of San Juan. From there, we hired a boat for the island hopping.

We visited about 3 or 4 islands that afternoon. Either snorkeling, swimming or just laying down on the beach. We also had the chance to eat a sea urchin or uni in Japanse. :) Our guide was the one who caught it and opened it up for us. Fresh and tasty. By the time we finished with the island hopping, we had dinner at our guide's house. We asked them to buy some dinner so we could have dinner after our island hopping tour. We came home to fresh and yummy home cooked meals. :) Happy Tummy!
After dinner we headed straight to our hostel in Bislig. About 2.5 hours from San Juan to Bislig. Wow! I think it was less because our driver was kinda doing his own version of Fast and the Furious! It was scary but we trusted him since he knows the roads and he's been doing this for quite some time as well.
