(2014) My Mindanao Birthday Week Adventure! Day 1


As the title implies, yes, it was my birthday week. To celebrate it, I took on an adventure vacation with friends! Yes! It was an adventure, backpacking vacation. Not a relaxing one but a tiring one but it was really fun! Promise, no lying. :) First Day was spent in Butuan, particularly in Britania Group of Islands.

Britania Group of Islands is not that well known for now, but hopefully it will be in the future. The islands are a mix of white sand beaches or beaches made up of broken down corals. From Butuan Airport, we hired a van to take us to the town of San Juan. From there, we hired a boat for the island hopping.

We visited about 3 or 4 islands that afternoon. Either snorkeling, swimming or just laying down on the beach. We also had the chance to eat a sea urchin or uni in Japanse. :) Our guide was the one who caught it and opened it up for us. Fresh and tasty. By the time we finished with the island hopping, we had dinner at our guide's house. We asked them to buy some dinner so we could have dinner after our island hopping tour. We came home to fresh and yummy home cooked meals. :) Happy Tummy!
After dinner we headed straight to our hostel in Bislig. About 2.5 hours from San Juan to Bislig. Wow! I think it was less because our driver was kinda doing his own version of Fast and the Furious! It was scary but we trusted him since he knows the roads and he's been doing this for quite some time as well.
