Korea Day 1: Seoul Orientation and the obsession to get to that Banpo Fountain Bridge

Day 1. Yes, the first day of the Korean Experience. Researched, prepared for it. But nothing could prepare me for the cold...cold autumn season. T_T I didn't know what autumn was like but at least we brought some thermal wear. yey!

So here is the first part of Day 1:

on the first floor of Incheon Airport.
• Get off the Bus at ‘Plaza Hotel’
• Once you get off, you are at the backside of Plaza Hotel.
• Stand against the hotel and walk straight
• Walk straight until you see ‘Dunkin Donuts’ on the left side
• Go straight till you see ‘GS 25’ on your left side
• Make a left turn and walk into an alley about 20 meters
• You can see Suitcasers on your right side. Welcome!
2:45 PMCheck-in at Suitcasers (ask where to buy t-money card and where to recharge it)

As you can see above, you need to know which Gate you should go. Different gates are for different buses going to all directions or to different places in Seoul. So, you need to check with your hotel, which I'm pretty sure they have, directions via Airport Bus. We booked with Suitcasers Hotel and from their website, they have detailed instructions on how to get there. They also emailed us maps and instructions as well.

Upon check-in, we registered and then paid for the deposit of the free wifi egg rental. Since they mostly deal with cash payment, you are asked to pay for the full amount. We asked them if we could pay for it the next day since we needed to get some more cash. They said it was ok if we would pay the next day. As in my earlier post, there were pictures of the bathroom of our Triple Room. Didn't have pictures of the room itself. You can check out their website for the pictures. Rooms were small but just enough for sleeping since we're out most of the day. Pretty functional if you ask me. There were no closets. But I give it more points since the bathroom was huge even for a small hotel :)

3:30 PMExplore nearby vicinity and early dinner

We ate this nearby Korean Restaurant. I forgot the name. It's just along the main street, along Deoksogung Palace and City Hall.

After walking around some more we needed to get to Yeouinaru to exchange the vouchers for the Banpo Fountain Show.

6:00 PMLeave for Yeouinaru

Refer to Seoul Subway App for directions

After taking correct exit from Yeouinaru Station, walk to Eland Cruise
7:15 PMBe at the Eland Cruise in Yeouinaru to exchange tickets
7:30 PMHan River Cruise (Yeouido - Banpo - Yeouido) c/o Eland Cruise
9:00 PMEnd of Cruise

Use Seoul Subway App for directions
9:30 PMLights out

Walk further from the station towards the park, you'll see Eland Cruise on the left side. The ticket booth is by the stairs, almost in front of Eland Cruise.  You can't miss it.  This is where you'll exchange the vouchers for cruise tickets. The cruise takes about 1-1.5 hours and you'll mostly see the bridges which makes up the Han River. Right side is the Old Seoul and left side is the New Seoul if you are seated in the forward direction of the boat. There's some entertainment as well but I mostly walked outside to take in the night scenery.

As we were approaching the Banpo Bridge, I thought there wouldn't be a show since the bridge was dark, no lights at all. And then suddenly we saw lights, fountains, then music! Everybody rushed outside. I was seated inside for a while since it was so cold then I found myself running outside just to see that Banpo Fountain Show!!! Wasn't disappointed at all!!! There, sums up Day 1 of Seoul Searching :D
