(2014) My Mindanao Birthday Week Adventure! Day 4

It was our last day at the beautiful island of Camiguin. I didn't want to leave because of the relaxing atmosphere and the closeness to nature. The beaches and the waters were just stunning, clear and kind of like straight out of a postcard. We were blessed to have clear skies and calm seas, just perfect to travel by boat.

We started our day around 6:00 AM. Which is a must if you want to visit the White Sand Bar or White Sand beach. Ok, so more of a sand bar. There wasn't much people in the early morning so it doesn't feel to crowded and still have some semblance of privacy but not too privy. We weren't the first people to arrive though. It is around 20 min. by boat from the main island of Camiguin to the White Sand Bar/Beach. If you're planning to go there, bear in mind the travel time and the time of day you'll be going there.

Crystal clear waters...

Just me, no crowds yet

Uni/Sea Urchin. Manong was selling each for P20

Yummy! I know it may look gross but these unis are damn expensive
in Japanese restaurants.

Next stop was Katibawasan Falls. It was around past 8 AM when we arrived. Took some quick photos of the falls and a relatively quick dip in the pond. The water was freezing cold so didn't really swim, just took some pictures.

Last stop was snorkeling in the waters of Mantigue Island. Probably around 15-20 min from the main island, I forgot, sorry. Anyway, it's one of the best dive spots in the country according to our guide. There are lots of giant clams and corals. One needs to scuba dive to really see the corals. But it was still perfect for snorkeling since you can see the clams. We even had the chance to see a school of fish...tuna? I'm not sure but it was mesmerizing and bit scary because they were so many.

School of fishes

Scary....

It was time to head back to the main island in order to catch the ferry ride to Benoni Pier. The ferry I think left around past 2:30PM. After arriving in Benoni Pier, we were looking for a bus headed to Cagayan De Oro (CDO) but I think there wasn't any, as far as I recall. So we took a colorum taxi instead. It was either the taxi or the van. The vans were mostly cramped so we took the taxi thinking that all four of us would just be the passengers. Turns our Father (a priest) was already seated in the front seat so that left us all four riding in the back. Yeah, I know very cramped indeed but we just wanted to go to CDO. It was a two-hour ride and I was mostly asleep, dead tired from swimming/snorkeling. We checked-in at GV hotel and had dinner at Kagay-Anon. They serve local dishes :) That's Day 4 of my adventure, so far. :)
